As specialist paving contractors for Bournemouth & Poole, we were excited to be working on this bespoke paving project for our client. We just adore this sweet little gravel garden with hard and soft landscaping features which we recently completed in Dorset. Before landscaping and paving work commenced our skilled team took care of the groundworks.
The beautiful garden is largely permeable, allowing all that lovely rain water to percolate into the soil below, keeping it moist whilst also reducing the chance of flooding. Gravel is obviously a great choice for a permeable surface but there are other landscaping options as seen here where we have used crazy paving with a gravel jointing medium to help break up the expanse of gravel and form a more solid surface in this section of the garden.
The majority of plants I have used here are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators and once established should be drought tolerant and low maintenance.
We installed high quality crazy paving from Lewis Quarries along with the feature boulders, supporting local companies by installing materials that have been locally sourced, where practical.
For the patio installation our client requested terracotta patio tiles from handmade tile manufacturer Baked Earth, with the trees and plants sourced mostly from our local garden centre, Marchants Nursery in Wimborne.
