We were asked to attend a home in Poole to provide a quote for groundworks and construction of garden steps to help resolve problems with damp at the rear of the property. A small gravel path and lawn was too high and too close to the damp proof course, creating unwanted moisture from the rainwater build up and causing damp.

We carried out groundworks to move the garden further away from the house, using a mini digger to help remove some of the lawn and soil. Our paving contractors then carefully installed three feature steps designed by the client to move the garden away from the house to create a dry barrier.

The steps were constructed with traditional red bricks and a smooth concrete finish, not slabbed as per the client’s request.

To complete the patio renovation, we supplied and laid 20mm limestone chippings at a depth of 100mm, to create good drainage for the rainwater and provide a usable garden path that will require minimal maintenance throughout the year.
